Training: Organizing IFRS Training for all Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) Members in 2014
The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers was established by an Act of the National Assembly (NCRIB Act No. 21 of 2003), which was signed into law by the then President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003. The Council succeeded the Nigerian Corporation of Insurance Brokers founded in 1962 and incorporated on 9 May 1967 as a non-profit making organization limited by guarantee under the Companies Act (1968). The Council is the Umbrella Association of all Registered Insurance Brokers in Nigeria.
As part of our continuous drive to constantly provide relevant services and information, WFO Roedl & Partner together with Netherwoods Consulting Limited in April 2014 organised a 15-day training on the International Financial Reporting Standards to all members of the NCRIB. With over 500 members, the training, which held in Lagos, started on the 15 of April 2014 and ended on the 15 May 2014 and was done in 5 phases for three days each with a total attendance of over 400 companies.
Training: Organizing IFRS Training for Ibadan Chamber of Commerce (ICCI) Members
A training session on IFRS Fundamental Course for Business Executives was sponsored by WFO Roedl & Partner on 23 of September 2014 for members of the ICCI. The aim of the training was to equip the business executives with up to date knowledge of the IFRS standards. WFO Roedl & Partner subsequently launched its branch office in Ibadan, which commenced operation on 1 October 2014. This was due to the numerous business opportunities in Ibadan and its environs. The Contact Partner of WFO Roedl & Partner shared his knowledge and experience during that training.
Job Fair: Sponsored a Campus Job Fair during the annual week of NUASA OAU in 2015
WFO Roedl & Partner conducted a campus job fair at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. The aim of the job fair was to share the firm’s technical knowledge with accounting students and to attract quality talents straight from school to join the pool of professionals in the firm.
The firm’s Contact Partner presented an interactive presentation on “New Horizons in the Accounting Profession.” After the presentation, about a hundred eligible students (minimum of 2nd Class Upper grade) participated in the aptitude test out of which about 25 candidates were shortlisted for interviews. Based on the interviews, six of the candidates has since joined the firm as part of our Graduate Internship Program.
Job Fair: Sponsored a Campus Job Fair at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech)
WFO Roedl & Partner held a job fair at Yaba College of Technology on the 10th of February 2015. The Head of Accounting Department, Mr. Lateef Agbetunde, provided the firm with a list of about 150 students with Upper Credit result (ND and HND), out of which about 110 candidates participated in the aptitude test.
Before the commencement of the aptitude test, the HOD introduced the firm to the students and later introduced, Josephine Oboni, one of our Senior Managers and Group Head. Josephine spoke on the services that WFO Roedl & Partner provides and opportunities for the students. Based on the result of the campus recruitment, about five graduates of Yabatech joined the firm in 2015.
